Kyoto is a past capital of Japan, and probably the most beautiful city in Japan.

Here is a list of suggested sites to see / things to do in Kyoto. Feel free to suggest additions. When we are in Kyoto, this will be our first source in deciding what we'd like to do next. Items marked with an asterisk (*) are among the World Heritage Sites in Japan.

• * See the spectacular views in Kyoto from Kiyomizu-dera

• * Visit the Kyoto imperial palace
• * Meditate in the famous stone garden called Ryoan-ji

• Stroll down the mysterious bamboo groves of Sagano
