So we want to find out what kinds of trips everyone is interested in.

2019 Ski Japan trip

Spend a week skiing in Japan!

There has been interest in getting a group together to ski in Japan. While the most famous ski areas in Japan are on the island of Hokkaido, there is excellent skiing on the main island, Honshu, in the area known as Hakuba Valley.

Hakuba Valley includes seven resorts where you can ski and then unwind in one of Japan's famous onsen (hot springs). If you have an Epic or Epic Local season pass, that's good for skiing at all seven resorts. Or, you can join the trip without an Epic pass and we'll add in the cost of the skiing separately.

Right now we're exploring what kind of interest there might be, and what sort of availability travelers might have (looking at February / March 2019 time frame, but right now we're flexible). So if you're interested, let us know by selecting one of the choices below, and we'll see if we can get a concensus.

Although this will be a Denver Takayama organized trip, we will not be visiting Takayama on this particular outing.

Indicate your level of interest and availability below (this is not a committment, just an attempt to guage the level of interest; if you indicate you are interested, we will put you an email list to get notifications as the trip solidifies)

2019 Introduction to Japan trip

Visiting the classic cities of Tokyo, Kyoto, Takayama, and Hiroshima

We have been running this trip fairly regularly for over ten years now. Although we think of it as an excellent first, introductory trip to Japan, we have had experienced Japan hands take the trip to re-acquaint themselves with Japan.

Whatever your personal agenda, you will find this remarkable trip an excellent exploration of Japan, often going beyond the tourist facade, and always tailored as much as possible to each traveler's interests.

In 2019 we're thinking of timing this trip around Takayama's Spring festival (April 14-15). However, we know many people can only travel during Summer vacation times. So we are looking to find out how many people would be interested in this trip in either an April or June time frame.

If you are interested in this trip, indicate which time frame works best for you. If you do so, we will put you an email list to get notifications as the trip solidifies.

2019 Japan in depth trip

Visiting more unusual locations in Japan

For those who wish to explore Japan's lesser traveled areas, we try to put together an In Depth trip. These trips may or may not visit Takayama.

Although we have various ideas, we are always up for finding out specific interests. So in this section, we ask you for areas of interest to you, in addition to some of the requests we've had in past years.

So let us know your interests, and when would work best for you to take a trip (this is not a committment, just an attempt to guage the level of interest; if you indicate you are interested, we will put you an email list to get notifications as the trip solidifies)

(You can check more than one, but specifying no more than a few will give more emphasis to your selection(s).)

2020 Celebration trip

 Celebrations plus Oympics

2020 is the 60th anniversary of the Denver / Takayama relationship! It is also the 50th anniversary of the Takayama Wind Ensemble. It is also the year that Tokyo hosts the Summer Olympics (July 24 - August 9).

We anticipate a Denver delegation going to Japan and a Takayama delegation coming to Denver.

Right now we're looking at an Introduction to Japan kind of trip that ends in Tokyo on July 22 or 23, just before the opening ceremonies. Then those who want to stay for the Olypmics are free to do so, while those who don't want to be in town during the madness can return to Colorado.

Now, we're trying to get a handle on the choices of greatest interest. it would help us if you could let us know. (this is not a committment, just an attempt to guage the level of interest; if you indicate you are interested, we will put you an email list to get notifications as the trip solidifies)
