- Reading and writing: none
- Other Connections with Japan
- Personal and business relationship with Takayama and Open Heart Pension

What I hope to get from this adventure:
- I am looking forward to visiting Takayama and my friends on their turf
- I want to eat, sleep, bathe, assimilate as much of Japan as possible
- My special curiosities are Japanese Punk Fashion, Japanese Fish Markets, and getting lost in Tokyo
- I hope to get to a Buddhist Temple or two for some refresher meditation, and to the Saki breweries in Gifu for saki snow cones
Things about me I'd like to share (work, family, personal history, hobbies, interests):
- Work
- I own a small business, Altieri Instrument Bags, (see www.altieribags.com), and I met the Takayama representatives and musicians through the Denver Sister City connection
- Family
- My husband, Michael Thornton, is an active member of the English Speaking Union and an English teacher at Denver School of the Arts
- My son, Dexter owns a furniture design and build company; check out www.doublebutter.com
- Interests
- Traveling is my passion; I hope to get everywhere before I die
- I love to put travel slideshows together, and now with iphoto I can go anywhere with them
- I try to combine my travels with scuba and snorkeling (most recently to the Red Sea, March 2011)
- I dabble in fashion design (for myself) and you will probably see some of my weird creations on the trip
- I am a master at recycling fabric
- As my friends know, I will go anywhere, any time--the joy of having a reliable staff to run my business
- I love meeting new people!
