- July 22, meeting of travelers at Yoko's Express in Sakura Square for lunch at 11:00 a.m.; followed by going upstairs to M.E.M. Travel for a meeting to make down payment and discuss various issues; some Japanese language work

- A stroll through the Botanic Gardens, May 19, 5:30-7:30; 1007 York St. Bonsai demonstrations, light hors d'oeuvres will be served, along with tea and coffee.

- Charity Concert for Japan, Sunday, April 17, 2:00-3:30; University of Colorado, Boulder; College of Music, 18th St. & Euclid; the Music Theater, Imig Music building, north east entrance. Looks like a good program.
- A lecture by T.R.Reid, Denver author, NPR contributor, and former Washington Post bureau chief in Japan. East High School's Community Forum. Tuesday, April 5 at 7:00p.m. $15 per adult; there is also a pre-talk party + forum ticket for $35 per person. See this flyer for more information
- A fund raising Taiko concert (Japanese drums), Saturday March 26, 7:00 pm at 3001 South Federal Boulevard, Denver; will include performances by three taiko groups of Colorado ( Denver Taiko, Mirai Daiko, and Taiko with Toni); no set admission: give what you can; all proceeds to Norhtern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund
- An informal get together at the Comstocks, March 12, 3-5; light snacks and discussion about the trip; all are welcome; RSVP to us at 303-355-2752
- A shamisen concert by Monsters of Shamisen - the shamisen is a traditional Japanese 3-stringed instrument, close to a banjo in sound; this unusual group presents shamisen music in a variety of contexts. This is not classical shamisen, but it does reflect one musical trend in Japan today: a growing interest in putting traditional Japanese arts in a modern framework.
