Prices and options

We have a final, total price, and a new final deadline.

Price: $5,035 per person *

* plus, each traveler must join Denver Sister Cities International.

 

Here's what's included:

  • Round trip airfare, Denver to Tokyo and return
  • 12 days and 11 nights in Japan
  • Standard class (3 star) hotels, double occupancy in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima
  • Stay in ryokan (Japanese inn) in Takayama
  • Transportation to and from hotels
  • Transportation between cities by bus or rail
  • Three segments on shinkansen (bullet train)
  • Day trips to Kamakura, Shirakawa-go, Nara, and Miyajima
  • Visit to Nagoya castle
  • Visits to five or more World Heritage Sites
  • PASMO IC card for transportation and more in Tokyo
  • Admissions to various venues (museums, temples, etc.)
  • Three breakfasts and five dinners
  • $50 donation to Denver Takayama Sister City Committee (tax deductible)

    • Information about other resources, either on the web or locally available (public library, personal libraries of trip members, etc.)

     

  • Services of two tour escorts, Kitty and Steve Comstock
      • Pre-trip
    • Interface with travel agent to coordinate itinerary requirements and negotiate best prices comensurate with desired quality
    • Run regular meetings to create detailed tailored itineraries and provide language and cultural background
    • Provide information about local events that may be of interest to members of the trip
    • Arrange guest speakers of interest to travelers
    • Spearhead promotion of trip
    • Provide focal point for completing paperwork
      During trip
    • Lead group through all connections from original departure through final return
    • Provide support (communication, direction, other assitance) throughout the trip
    • Connect with local contacts for enhanced experiences (guides, drivers, etc.)
      Post trip
    • Provide focal point for coordinating exchange of digital pictures in a common trip album

     

  • Note: there is no tipping in Japan


Other options:

  • Land only price (if you want to fly on your own): subtract $1,500 from total price
  • Single supplement: $690.00

Other options can be priced as interest dictates (get requests in soon), such as:

  • Additional personal days before or after schedule
  • Stay in hotel instead of ryokan in Takayama
  • Air cabin upgrade (fly on same flights but business class - if available)

Critical dates:

  • Latest date to join trip: Monday, September 20
  • Deposit of $2,500, to MEM Travel: on or before September 20
  • Second payment of $2,085 to MEM Travel: on or before September 20
  • Note: 4% surcharge on MEM total if make payments using credit card
  • Final payment of $450 to Steve Comstock (fund the money pool ) : Thursday, September 15

Cancellation policy:

  • Cancellation on or before August 15: $1,800 is non-refundable
  • Cancelation after August 15: only $450 money pool is refundable
